From 2011 to 2012, the global market for military aircraft MRO will contract 5.3% and stay at around $62-63 billion through 2015.
On the bright side, MRO of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) will grow by 29% annually followed by attack helicopters
and utility helicopters at +5% and +4%, respectively. General aviation aircraft, tankers, and tactical transport aircraft MRO
will grow 2-3% annually, while strategic transport aircraft MRO and trainer MRO will be flat. On the negative side, MRO spending on
special mission aircraft and fighter/attack aircraft will decrease by 1% and 6% annually.
Despite the expected negative contraction in global military aircraft MRO in 2012,
spending in all regions but North America and Europe will actually increase.
With a more than 73% share of global
military MRO spending in 2010, negative growth in North America and Europe will have a massive impact on overall world growth.
Contracting at a 2% annual rate, these two key regions cause global MRO to drop by 0.4% annually - this despite +7% growth in military
aircraft MRO in the Middle East, +6% in Lating America, +3% in Asia-Pacific, and +2% in Africa.
